These paintings were created in response to the cessation of four years of Chicago city life. With the quest for honest interpretation of experience, I sought isolation and immersion. In the Fall of 2017, I packed up my studio and ventured into the wild. While camping out a week at a time, my thoughts and actions were devoted to expanding my perception and understanding of the visual and physical realities of dense woods. These paintings were exhibited alongside the work of Tom Judd in Still Moments, at Matthew Rachman Gallery, in Chicago.
